If there is something that has taken me forever to finish in the last couple of months, then it surely has to be this dress. It`s not that it was a struggle putting it up together, but so many things kept coming in between this project hence why the major delay. Thinking of it, i actually remember one quote that my teacher always installed in me and i`ve never forgotten it since then. ,, Der Weg ist wichtiger als das Produkt” which simply means that the journey one partakes is more important than the end product or results.
In the journey you have the ability to learn and acquire new skills. You have the chance to try something new, mess up and try again and again. The journey prepares you for something even better. Greater. Awesome. You grow. You cry. You feel frustrated. This is exactly how i felt with this project. I did not want to put myself under any pressure. So i took my time in it without having any sorts of regret. And i`m pleased with how it all turned out.
The Midi Dress is one classic trend that i love and i wouldn`t mind having in all kinds of shapes, designs and colors. That`s why it`s one of those things which was on top of my sewing list. I chose the mustard color since i knew we were approching Fall and there is nothing that screams Fall than Mustard. I chose the pattern from an old Burda magazine which has vintage patterns that i love. The material is very stretchy which takes the comfort level of this dress to a whole new magnitude. To add some fun on this simple dress, i decided to add a collar and belt for that extra ooomph.
Styling it wasn`t a pain since the mustard color is very rich. Some black pumps and my black bag (which really needs a break for now, (hides face) did the job for me. I have been hunting down for different fabrics to make more dresses since i now got the hang of it. One challenge that i have experinced though from using Patterns is that i always have to adjust the measurements on me several times. Mostly with stretchy fabrics. On this dress in particular i had to take in so much fabric on the sides which resulted in me wasting alot of material since there was no i way i could re-use it again for future projects. I guess that`s just the downside i have to point out. There is nothing cute in wasting anything. All in all i`m super happy with the overall fit and turn out. I still have a long way to go but i`m totally grateful to have an opportunity to be in this journey where i`m able to learn new skills and evolve into a better person. Thank you so much for being part of it 🙂
Love and lots of Love
