This Post has been way overdue! But i`m more than glad to finally share with you another project that has been on the working for the longest time ever!
Happy Monday Everyone š
Well if you know me well enough, you`ll probably know that i have a soft spot for dresses. I always wanted to make one from scratch by myself and i`m more than glad that this project gave me the opportunity to do exactly so. As the year was almost coming to an end, i knew i wanted to make something really special for Christmas. This particular dress was what instantly came to mind. So as i was fabric shopping, i intially came across a white and blue print that i wanted to get. But the fabric itself wasn`t as flowy as how i anticipated it to be. The Christmas Season is actaully what inspired me to choose this polka dot satin material which gave me the results that i was looking for.
So first things first. One thing i`ve learnt since i started sewing is that not all fabrics are a joy working with. This one in particular tested my patience on another level. The biggest challenge that i had to deal with was hemming the lower part of the dress (circle skirt) and the lining attached to it. That took alot of my time. I also realized that after attaching the bodice to the skirt, one of the sides wasn`t correctly aligned together. So that`sĀ something that i have to have an eye on for my future projects. Just when i thought i had seen the worst and went ahead to try on the dress, i realized that getting inside it was and still is Yoga plus a HIIT Cardio workout put together!! The zipper that i initially chose for the dress was way too short. I needed one that was long enough to accomodate the circle skirt as well. The learning experience that i have received with this number is insane. The starting point is always the hardest but i believe with Faith, Hardwork, Lots of Practise and being Consistent, i will improve my skills for the better.
All in all, i`m totally in love with the fit, length and the pattern of this dress. I will absolutely give it another try with a different fabric and pattern in the near future. I can totally see myself wearing this to church or even a dinner date with my ever amazing hubby. Though the pattern itself stands out alot, i still opted to add some oomph to it by adding a belt and a clutch. The belt really helped in synching my waist area. I think it actaully gave the whole outfit a 1970`s vintage vibe hence why i decided to add my platform heels.
This Project is a good reminder that no matter how hard, frustrating or challanging anything can be, giving up should never be an option. In the contrary, taking more time to figure out where the problem is and trying our level best to find a solution is what we should always strive for.Ā When we learn we come back smarter, stronger and better. That`s how we grow and growth (no matter how small or big) is very essential in our every day life.
Jeremiah 29:11
“For i know the plans i have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you Hope and a Future”
This is just one of the verses in the Bible that i really love. It really encourages me and gives me strength whenever i feel down. I hope it speaks as much volume as it has done in my life.
Thank you all for reading and stopping by.
Be blessed and have an amazing week ahead š
